The Standalones take their inspiration from the punk ethic that you don't need to be a virtuoso musician to write great pop songs. Inspired by bands such as the Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen, and the Ramones, to pick up guitars and write pop songs, we hope to inspire the same in others. Ciampini and Darko, are former founding members of Toronto band, The Earthmen, whose 1993 album, Eargasm received college airplay across Canada. The song "This Day" generated some profile for the band, after being put into regular rotation on Toronto radio station CFNY (thanks to Alan Cross, a great supporter of local talent). Lumbo, was formerly the bass player with Toronto mainstays, Gideon and the False Idols (of "Loveless" fame), who had their own album release in the mid-90's.

The Standalones are currently putting finishing touches on a new album, co-produced with Pete Hudson, due for release in Fall 2008.
