Making History in this year's 97.7HTZ FM's Rocksearch competition, known in itself for breaking such acts as Finger Eleven and The Trews, The Standstills won by a unanimous vote from all twelve industry judges, a decision that has never before been seen in the events history. Once London based, The band hales from Jonny Fox's hometown of Oshawa Ontario.

After only four years into their careers the duo, comprising of Renée Couture on drums and Jonny Fox on Guitar and Vocals, has successfully and independently released two albums; Their Debut EP (2009) and their first full length "The Human Element" (2011) and as of Dec. 2011, a 7" limited edition brown vinyl featuring two new tracks to also be featured on their next independent record due out in the summer of 2012.

The Standstills have toured extensively and have been apart of major festivals across the country including: NXNE, Halifax Pop Explosion, Rockstock, Barrie New Music Fest, FAM fest, Canadian Music Fest and many more. The Standstills have also shared the stage with the likes of: The Tea Party, Robby and Ray of The Doors, Wide Mouth Mason, Crash Karma, Big Wreck and Monster Truck.

Their most recent single's "Black Betty" and "Carry On" have received a significant amount of radio play, reaching over 1 million listeners on 41 of the Top Rock stations across the country and charting as number 1 on 97.7HTZ FM as voted by fans.

The band looks forward to their next release due out summer of 2012 entitled "Pushing Electric", an album that the band has self produced using their educational background in the fields of engineering and production. The album is titled in dedication to the genius Nikola Tesla.
