The State Of Things

This is THE STATE OF THINGS:
In the early months of 2007, vocalist and guitarist Christian McFadden and bassist Dave Vasey (both former members of Queen Street dark electronic legends Vegasphere) teamed up with Dazzer Scott (drummer for The Glad Yeah) to see what they could come up with. United by their wide reaching musical influences, their intention was to find a unique-yet-familiar sound, and then amplify it to new levels of loud and live. A few months later, the trio invited Karen Knight (a former lighting designer for Vegasphere) to take on the daunting task of replicating an anomalistic collection of sounds and textures including orchestral strings, music boxes, hammond organs, mandolins, to drum loops, backwards vocals and wall-like analog pads, all via synthesizer. The State Of Things was almost established. The recent addition of Stacy Stray (ex- Robin Black and the Intergalactic Rockstars, CJ Sleez) has increased the muscle in this band, bringing them to a destination where where Killing Joke meets The Killers; where The Cure blends with Mew; where the Cult cross Editors.
The State Of Things somehow manage to keep this delicate balance of influences without sounding too retro or too "2008-trying-to-sound-retro". It is the strength of their songs that elevate them over the myriad of mediocrity that plague the tortured ear drums of the general public. Their nearly 80 collective years slugging away in other bands has been the perfect training for what has become THE STATE OF THINGS. With a tonne of film and TV licensing contacts and opportunities still intact from the previous days,The band are set to record this summer. This is THE STATE OF THINGS.
