"The Stop Takes Over the Magic City"

"In recent weeks the crew had been talking about shooting a band based out of Birmingham, and someone mentioned that a band called The Stop was playing the following night at a pub downtown. We decided to take the cameras down and see what these guys were all about. We soon found out that they are all about the groove. Every member of the crew was literally blown away by the bands performance. Although we had originally planned to stay for only the first forty five minutes, I'll be damned if we weren't still dancing, along with everyone else in that place, at two a.m. when the bar shut down.
The Stop is one of the best kept secrets in live music today and we are excited as they begin to step forward. Their intensely funky and psychedelic grooves are completely original and, for a three piece band, they have the fullest sound we've heard in a long time. We encourage all to keep your eyes on these guys as they step into the spotlight."

"Magic in the Magic City"

"We were eager to do a follow up with one of our favorite bands we've met, The Stop, and on October first we got our chance. They were playing along side Ft. Collins's new sensation, Green Lemon at the nicest theater in town, Workplay. To say the least, the band, once again, did not disappoint.
After opening with a crowd rocking improv jam, the band quickly moved into some of there new material. Thump Medic, DS9, and Blueberry were all new songs to us, but quite catchy and upbeat. The new light setup the band was using also really added to the show. They played hard and definitely pleased the crowd with their new jam styles, originals, and covers. The covers of Jimi Hendrix's Crosstown Traffic and The Beastie Boys In 3's (both of which contained teases of Phish's Split Open and Melt) really got everyone on their feet. Terrarium, the definite highlight of the evening, showed just how far the band can take the original material, going into a driving electronic space jam, out of five minute of pure funk.
We are glad to see the band taking well to the big stages they have been playing and that they are keeping it fresh and new for the crowds. Jam Scene hopes to see great things out of this gem from the Magic City." - Jam Scene DVD Magazine October 2005

Discography

Although we are in the middle of recording our first full length album, a single of ours entitled DS9 has had plenty of air time, from as far north as New York and Philly to more southern cities such as Birmingham and Auburn.

Bio

The Stop is a versitile power trio coming out of Birmingham, AL. It was formed by bassist Beck Hall and guiatrist Joel Kauffman in September of 2004 and completed in February of 2005 with the addition of drummer Derek Day. The music created by this three piece has a large sound all it's own and varies from funk, trance, and rock n' roll to beautiful soundscapes that change dramatically at any moment. Each band member of The Stop has been playing for more than 14 years and has stage experience with some of the world's greats. Beck Hall has been playing Bass for 14 Years and teaching for 5. At a mere 23, he has played with an incredible number of world renound musicians (Victor Atkins, Matt Slocum, Mark Kimbrell, Chris Fryer, Mark Lanter).
