"The Stranger Gallery @ The Wild Buffalo"

Energized by The Sweaty Sweaters’ set, the audience was definitely primed for a band less familiar, but emerging in the local music scene, The Stranger Gallery. Formed from two thirds of the now defunct Armonikos, the Stranger Gallery play a brand of hypnotizing rock of eclectic influence incorporating electro elements and hardware into the framework of their inventive, untraditional song-structures.
In the style of the modern experimental technological integrations of bands like Minus the Bear, Ratatat and Tortoise, The Stranger Gallery utilize digital tools like Drummer Justin Walter’s laptop and Guitarist Jason Chadick’s Line 6 Delay Modeler, to flavor and fill out their electro-rock compositions.
While Chadick crafted and layered progressive melodies on his Telecaster, Walter punched out electro rhythms with a heavy kick beat and hummingbird high-hat metronomic eighth-notes and tom fills. Flavoring their songs with the incorporation of ready-made piano and beats from Walter’s laptop, and vocals from both the rough, bluesy tenor of Chadick and the smoother, lighter tone of Walter, the pair travel from a start to a destination without a lot of repetition on the way.
Despite a few transitional trouble spots in their performance at the Buffalo, the guys rode the edge of their songs lending a drama to their set that drew the audience into the swirling strata of chords and beats that comprises the Stranger Gallery’s music. - What's Up Magazine

Bio

The Stranger Gallery hails froms Bellingham, Washington and was formed in February of 2008 out of two thirds of the now defunct Armonikos. Inspired by the diverse lanscapes of the Northwest, The Stranger Gallery began to create their own brand of electro-rock by melding angular fingerstyle guitar and thunderous drum work with electronic soundscapes. The result is music that is full of contrast without sacrificing cohesion or identity.
