"Take One." (EP) (Red Mercury Recordings) 2004

Feeling a bit camera shy

The members of The Strategy Game have known each other one way or another for about 7 years. They formed in the band 2001. Because of Miguel Echemendia’s prior commitments in Hopeless Records’ The Story So Far the group remained a side project.

Fast-forwarding to 2003 found the band going full-time and gearing up for their first live show. But first, they decided to buck local band tradition and record before doing any shows. They stepped in to Andy Gerber’s North side studio Million Yen for a 7-song demo. On September 21st 2003 they took the stage at Subterranean, headlining their first show ever and selling out the 150 person capacity room.

Early 2004 finds the band recording a second series of demos with Andy Gerber at Million Yen Studios after getting 5 shows under their belts. They have played Subterranean as well as the Double Door and Beat Kitchen. They've had the opportunity to play with some great local acts including The BuddyRevelles, Caviar, The Assembly, Drive and Giant Step. They have headlined two shows at Subterranean – both of which have sold out.

In the summer of 2004 Red Mercury Recordings will release "Take One."; a 5 song E.P.

The band hopes to continue their local success as well as venture out of the windy city to take their music abroad.
