Forged from basements throughout Vancouver, Sub Rosa brings a variety of tastes to the stage. Garage, indie, surf, and punk rock are the roots of this 4-piece while undercurrents of jazz and reggae combine for a truly unique sound. Characterized by melodic verses that build to rocking choruses, the listener ascends from head bobbing and toe gazing to full on screaming rock. From the ground up, the rhythm section (Richard Franco - Bass, Otto Kauffmann - Drums) is tight and driving providing a palette for the guitar of Jeff Turney and Jeff MacPherson. Jeff M brings skillful builds and riffs to carry the listener, while Turney provides driving rhythms and spacey, erratic solos that turn heads. Further, T's haunting voice coupled with eerie but hopeful lyrics breathe life into songs allowing the audience to connect and interpret as they may.
