Bio
The SUGARLAND BRASS COMPANY, also referred to as SBC is a 5 piece Deep Dish Chicago style R&B revue band with a soulful strut. Playing the Houston and surrounding areas from a good old fashioned Texas Ice House to upscale martini bars and restaurants. The band consists of Vito Varone, vocals, trumpet and blues harp. Hes a pretty colorful character who interacts with his audience and asks for participation from time to time. He will keep you entertained especially while strolling the crowd and singing to them. Jim Rinke not only helps out with backup vocals he plays the flute, tenor and alto sax and can and does play both saxophones at the same time. Come see a show and you will see what Im talkin about. He is also a pretty sharp dresser and is known for roaming the crowd with his sax. You put Vito and Jim out on the floor and theres no stoppin them. Then theres Albert Storo from the Soul Hustlers who will blow you away with his funky lead guitar. The mans got style and plays the drums and sings as well. He started at an early age (baby) listenin & lovin the blues. Who would know hed grow up livin the blues as well. While playing in Telluride, Colorado, Albert Collins asked to sit in and together the two Alberts made some great sound. The drummer Richard Segura also provides vocals along with his drumming talent. He has toured with the Roy Head band back in the day and with the Kingpins opened for Carl Perkins. Last but not least is Mr. Bass Man himself Carl Johnson. Hes played in several C&W bands throughout the years up until he became a permanent fixture with SBC. This bass man keeps it all together and this genre of music has found a new home in Carls life. If you ever have the opportunity to see THE SUGARLAND BRASS COMPANY perform you will come back for more. All ages come out to see the show. Often times youll find small children given a pair of maracas or a tambourine to join in on the fun. Youll be dancin to the music and if you are old enough to remember Louie Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Bobby Darin, Bobby Blue Bland and more you know this is the band to see.
