The Superlatives began with a chance encounter in February 2003 when Mike Voss and Katie Malcom (now Katie Voss) randomly met in one of Atlanta's many smoky blues bars. After realizing they shared similar musical influences, they began writing and recording together. Almost immediately, the two singer-songwriters recognized that they have amazing artistic chemistry which combines pop sensibility with the emotional intensity of Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, and The Pretenders.
Voss and Malcom decided that they wanted to form a band to complement their incredible style. Veteran drummer David Howard and journeyman bassist Mike Gavrielides joined and have added even more intensity to the passionate songs and performances. The Superlatives is a well-deserved moniker because each member brings an enormous amount of talent, drive, and spirit.
