Bio

The Sweet Distraction is a groundbreaking new three-piece band from Wautoma, WI. Invigorated by the prospect of returning quality control to the popular music scene, the group has involved and dedicated themselves to their art. Composing, recording and performing their material in their own original and innovative manner, the band hopes to express solid musicality with energy, emotion and excitement.

The band is comprised of Evan Craig on guitar/bass/vocals, Jake Van Loon on drums/vocals, and Erick Kenton on piano/keyboards/vocals. Erick also multitasks as the bass player with a left-hand keyboard bass, which keeps the band as a tight trio with a big sound, important for retaining the band's dynamics. Each member is thrilled and honored to work with the others, and the lines of communication and collaboration are close and steady.

The Sweet Distraction hopes to convey their songs as honestly as possible, playing in a variety of genres and styles, yet keeping the music unique and meaningful. They are determined to be heard and hungry for the chance to give back to the musical community from which they have each drawn so much enjoyment.

Erick Kenton and Evan Craig have been working together with their original music since the age of 12 years old; now 10 years later their music has never stopped. TSD is the second band that Erick and Evan have worked together in, the first being LazyBeat. LazyBeat was the pride and joy of the central Wisconsin local scene. They performed at two battle of the bands, and walked away with first place for both. These blue ribbons gave them the open door to play at Walleye Weekend, the annual music festival in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin as a headlining band on one of the largest stages. Soon after, LazyBeat disbanded due to distance of the members: the guitarist was 200 miles away, which is minor compared to the bass player who now resides in Arizona. Erick and Evan never stopped though, writing their own music and then collaborating with each other and Jake Van Loon behind the drum set. The three now comprise who The Sweet Distraction is today.
