"BIG BEAT Drumming Festival 2010"

To You, Nicole, all of the Amazing Syndicate I want to say a big Huge THANK YOU for your time and efforts on an Already Busy Sunday to help us raise money and Awareness about the Importance of Music Education in our Public Schools and in The Lives of our Children! As far as the performance went….. WOW!!!!! I don’t know what to say. I was completely blown away with the Band. I have never seen high school kids play like that!
The first thing that I did the following Monday was call Steve Rucker at UM to share my experience! I told him that if they have a sax, bass, and drum scholarship available I have the recipients all wrapped up and ready to go!
I have also told everyone here about the ongoing Saturday evening gigs at Blue Jean Blues.

Please pass along this email to Russell, Patrick and Stefan! And Thanks for posting The Big Beat Banner on our website! Also.. PLEASE get my e-mail address attached to any e-mail event list for The Syndicate is involved in!

Man, I just can’t say enough good things about you, or enough Thanks for sharing your music with us to make our event The best Big Beat Ever!
Much Thanks and Much Love!

Bio

The Syndicate "age defying musicianship" described by a guest at a recent event. These young men range in ages 16 through 18 and have held the attention of the nations best jazz musicians.
Meet them...
RUSSELL HALL - BASS
"Music is life" is his mantra. Over his young years Russell has transitioned through a variety of instruments beginning with classical piano, drums, trombone, electric bass and now acoustic bass. Regarded by the prestigious Gold Coast Jazz Society as one of the Jazz Stars of Tomorrow, he has won a number of scholarships to further his studies in music. In May of 2010 Russell was awarded the Most Outstanding Bass Performance at the Jazz at the Lincoln Centre's Essentially Ellington Competition in New York. Upon receiving his award Wynton Marsalis hailed him as "a cat who can swing". He went on later in the year to win one of 12 places for outstanding young jazz musicians across the nation at the Vail Jazz Foundation. With the opportunity to study with John Clayton and Ben Wolfe.
He continues to travel across the country for recordings, performances and workshops. Russell is a performing arts student at the Dillard Center for the Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale.
PATRICK BARTLEY- Sax, Clarinet, Flute
"Pat", hailed as Charlie Parker or Coltrane reborn, is a phenom this early in his musical career. With a multitude of awards received, Patrick has added composer, songwriter and arranger having completed recordings with veteran musicians on the jazz scene around the country.
In January 2010, Patrick won a spot to play at the Grammy Awards and after his performance was invited by the Dave Matthews band to perfom with the group.
His eclectic taste in music and profound passion creates the hypnotic sounds from his horn. Patrick is also a performing arts student at the Dillard Center for the Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale.
STEFAN KLEIN, Jr - DRUMS
Drummer extraordinaire! Powerful and on time, Stefan was "born with sticks in his hands and rhythm in his bones" as described by one listener, Stefan has been playing drums for most of his life.
Highly sought after around South Florida by veteran bands and musicians, Stefan is a cross-over performer who tackles all genres of music and masters them with ease.
The smooth and pulsating beats proves that this award winning drummer is making a name for himself on the music scene as a recording artist in his own right. North Broward Preparatory, Coconut Creek, is proud the call him their own.
