The Synthesis

...The Synthesis takes the stage next. Though not entirely new to the local Indy scene, it’s still one of the first times this particular band has performed.

“It’s our second show that we’ve all played together,” said guitarist Dan Brown, “and it’s only like our eighth time playing together as a band.”

Actually:

“We got together last year,” said drummer Dustin Odya, “and we played like once every like two months or so. We were all working hard and then I had to go to Florida for three months.” They then joked that they were a “VH1 story waiting to happen.” Before we can get to that point, we must first get on with their performance.

It was about what you would expect from a four-piece pop/rock/electronica band (hey, I’m a sucker for keyboards). Nice energy, good stage presence. Not bad for a band that wasn’t originally supposed to perform tonight.

“So we’re the filler,” said Odya. “We’re the cream filling.” As the rest of the band put it, “the tasty tasty cream filling of the Battle of Birdy’s goodness.” Even if they don’t win, they can still take this to the ATM:

“We might not place first,” said Brown, “but dammit we’re the most lickable.”

Being a new(ish) band not originally supposed to perform and having the unfortunate luck of having to follow a band like The Post Script, how did they think they did?
