Bio

Swiftly on the rise to the top of Oklahoma’s local music scene The Taking State emerges with a presence that can’t be denied. Pulling influences from the likes of Anberlin, Angels and Airwaves, Boyslikegirls. The Taking State takes a fresh approach to the rock pop attitude. Hits like “Alone in LA” and “Truth” pave a diverse introduction to their signature sound. The Taking State is currently recording their debut seven track e.p. with a plan for a release date in late 2009. Currently The Taking State receives over 300 plays each day on Myspace and was recently a featured unsigned artist on IHeartMusic.com for over a month.

Longtime friends Jonathan King and Drew Housley formed The Taking State in December of 2007 when “Alone in LA” was written. Soon thereafter the duo discovered guitarist Clay Call and bass player Jared Fatkin. The mix was in desperate need of a drummer that could fuse their rock styling with a pop attitude, thus introducing Aaron Temple. With a consistent lineup The Taking State began playing at clubs like The Conservatory and Bricktown Live quickly ushering eager crowds of 250 plus. With 2009 wide open, The Taking State plans to release their e.p., book a regional tour and begin production on their debut album. With a growing presence in the region, the members of The Taking State know that with hard work and consistent loyalty to their grass roots and support, the future holds no limits.
