The Taxi

The Taxi

BandRockPop

The Taxi is a fresh, new group whose music drives straight rock with a soulful influence. The group combines rhythmic electric guitar with leading keys on top of a driving and soulful rhythm section to back up clear, and mature front vocals. This four-piece Atlanta group is sure to please!

Biography

Even in the middle of a blazing Georgia summer, a tiny, poorly ventilated basement is sometimes the only place for a rehearsal. This is exactly where The Taxi found themselves day after day when they formed the band in 2005. After playing together only a handful of times, the new group blindly entered a battle-of-the-bands outside the Atlanta area. Armed with only a few original tunes and some tight cover songs, their show won them their first prize together as a band. Needless to say, that day marked the beginning of a promising music career for the four young musicians. After their debut performance, the band went on to play at a variety of venues and events in between attending school at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Taxi played live shows with local radio stations, entered more battle-of-the-bands competitions in which they claimed first prizes, headlined fund-raising events such as Relay(s) for Life, performed at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, as well as played many other concerts. The boys of the band have had the pleasure of working with many other local bands and even opened for Matt Wertz in the fall of 2006. Their sound originated as an organic mixture of stringed melodies, percussion, and driving vocal harmonies, causing them to uniquely stand out in today's musical era. The guys have several demos under their belt; however, as they continue to write and record, their sound continues to evolve. The Taxi is pushing towards a more rhythmic, soulful, and overall fresher sound which is evident in their new demo recorded at the dawning of the 2007 summer. In addition to the new music recorded and engineered by Brandon Swafford (www.swaff.net), The Taxi continues to fill their calendars with events on top of pursuing production with Billy Terrell. They hope to produce a full-length album in the near future. The Taxi continues to work at what they love, and they hope you enjoy their music. Thanks for listening!

Lyrics

I Won't Be Too far

Written By: The Taxi

You think no one can feel you, but I can
I know everything you do.
Now you're trying hard to sooth yourself in everyway,
Something different everyday

No one can love you like I do
Baby you know it's true
I give you what I need, still you believe I'm crazy
But I'm gonna prove to you like no one else can do

If you loose your way,
And it breaks your heart,
I'll be close behind,
I won't be too far.

You think I am letting you go,
But I know I'm just setting you free.
Now I'm not one for playing tricks on proper girls,
Baby that's not me

No one can love you like I do
Baby you know it's true
I give you what I need, still you believe I'm crazy
But I'm gonna prove to you like no one else can do

If you loose your way,
And it breaks your heart,
I'll be close behind,
I won't be too far.

Rational Thoughts

Written By: The Taxi

I know I said I’d wait
Sometimes it’s easy to rush into your fate
I know it’s new for you
This time I don’t have any clue what to do

So tell me, tell me, tell me please
Please tell me, tell me what you need

You know me and I know you think that this isn’t true
If you left could I get along without you
You know me and I know you think that this isn’t real
I just wish I could tell you how I feel

I want to stay a while
It’s not easy when we’re both in denial
Let’s hold on to what we got
I’m through with listening to rational thoughts

So tell me, tell me, tell me please
Please tell me, tell me what you need

You know me and I know you think that this isn’t true
If you left could I get along without you
You know me and I know you think that this isn’t real
I just wish I could tell you how I feel
You know me and I know you think that I’m not sincere
I’m through saying what I think you want to hear
You know me and I know you think that this isn’t real
I just wish I could tell you how I feel
