Bio

Even in the middle of a blazing Georgia summer, a tiny, poorly ventilated basement is sometimes the only place for a rehearsal. This is exactly where The Taxi found themselves day after day when they formed the band in 2005. After playing together only a handful of times, the new group blindly entered a battle-of-the-bands outside the Atlanta area. Armed with only a few original tunes and some tight cover songs, their show won them their first prize together as a band. Needless to say, that day marked the beginning of a promising music career for the four young musicians. After their debut performance, the band went on to play at a variety of venues and events in between attending school at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Taxi played live shows with local radio stations, entered more battle-of-the-bands competitions in which they claimed first prizes, headlined fund-raising events such as Relay(s) for Life, performed at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, as well as played many other concerts. The boys of the band have had the pleasure of working with many other local bands and even opened for Matt Wertz in the fall of 2006. Their sound originated as an organic mixture of stringed melodies, percussion, and driving vocal harmonies, causing them to uniquely stand out in today's musical era. The guys have several demos under their belt; however, as they continue to write and record, their sound continues to evolve. The Taxi is pushing towards a more rhythmic, soulful, and overall fresher sound which is evident in their new demo recorded at the dawning of the 2007 summer. In addition to the new music recorded and engineered by Brandon Swafford (www.swaff.net), The Taxi continues to fill their calendars with events on top of pursuing production with Billy Terrell. They hope to produce a full-length album in the near future. The Taxi continues to work at what they love, and they hope you enjoy their music. Thanks for listening!
