A Tale of Two Cities
The Team
(Taimis Records)

For Taimis Records super group The Team, life is just getting started with the release of their debut album A Tale of Two Cities. Filled with an eclectic mix of dance grooves and soulful ballads, The Team has reworked a tried and true formula into something fresh, hot, and endearing. Evident on tracks like “I Don’t Want To Lose” feat. Jim E. Mac, “Tired,” and “Call On Me” feat. Purple Haze, A Tale of Two Cities pretty much fills in the gaps that have been musically ignored. Yet, nothing shines brighter than “Free” which gives a heartfelt shout out to God and His saving grace. The Team has managed to make all the right plays for their first time around.

"Talking With The Team"

_
THE TEAM is a group that combines
traditional Hip-Hop style with the sultry passion of true, smooth, harmonious R&B. Never before has a group been put together merging cutting-edge rap lyrics with spirited ballads that leave fans wanting more! From club bangers like "I Don't Want to Lose" and "Hoosier
State" to love songs like "Can't Stop", THE TEAM has something for everyone. The TEAM showcases the skills of two extraordinary artists, TA and Tell Ross. Each member brings a passion that is exhibited through their talents of
singing, rapping, writing, and producing. With a live performance that features a 7-piece band, this group has shared the stage with various musical talents. Having opened for old school acts like Shalamar to Morris Day and The
Time, to more current acts like Mint Condition, Carl Thomas, Brooke Valentine, and Lil Flip; The TEAM has a style that appeals to music lovers of all ages. "80,000 people cheered as TA (the lead singer of "THE TEAM") seranaded the
crowd when Ronald Isley of The Isley Brothers asked him to sing," said Joyce Rogers, President & CEO of The Indiana Black Expo, Inc.
TA and Tell Ross together as "The Team" are primed and ready to "Takeover" the music scene!!!!!!!!!

LI: First and foremost, how did you all get together?

The Team: *T.A. (Singer) - In December of 2004, I decided to turn a room in my basement into a small studio. I knew I was blessed with the ability to sing, but I didn't know anything about making music or writing songs. I just listened to God, and he told me if you build it they will come. From there
the drummer at my church, Jay Jones who produced half of the tracks on the album, came and started making tracks and we started the group.

LI: Has the album come out and what kind of concepts were considered in the production?

The Team: *T.A. (Creator, Singer) - The album dropped Oct. 6 in Atlanta
during our performance at the 2006 Atlantis Music Festival & Conference. The response has been incredible!! Over the last two weeks we have sold over300 copies and now the album is available on everyone's home computer and iPods through Apples iTunes. We had no idea we had this type of project. We just wanted to put out an album that merged Hip-Hop and R&B together on one project with a live band!! With the state of the music industry now, we think people are screaming for more live music like in the early 90's.

LI: What was the mission behind the album?

The Team: Tell Ross (Lyricist) - To take hot Hip-Hop tracks, put them with meaningful lyrics and merge them with true, soulful, harmonious
R&B. And I think we did that and more!!!

LI: When I heard the track, "Get Wit Me," and after reading the bio, I
was surprised that you all had mentioned Mint Condition because that's what I first thought. What kind of effect do you feel groups like
those had on you all?

The Team: T.A. (Creator, Singer) - A major impact. Think about the first
time you heard Run DMC and Aerosmith do "Walk this Way", Jay Z and LinkinPark, or The Roots. Didn't you feel like you were in a concert every time you saw those videos or heard those songs? That's what we are shooting for on every song.

LI: Do you all contribute to the music or is it just certain people?

The Team: Tell Ross (Lyricist) - Myself and T.A. basically collab on every track. I might have a track someone sent to me or he might have a track he picked up and we go to the studio and play with different concepts. We both may come back and say lets change this, but both of us make the
decision.

LI: With so many groups focusing on a younger generation or just sex
in general, what kind of message are you all trying to put out to the
listeners?

The Team: T.A. (Creator, Singer) - I know T Ross will agree with me on this one when we say we want our listeners to feel like we are talking about topics that they can relate to. On this project we talk about everything from one night stands to first love, from infidelity to the war in Iraq, and all stops in between. We never want anybody to think this music is about women, money, jewelry, etc... At the end of the day, if our family won't be proud of it, we won't either.

LI: How important is it to have a unique sound when it comes to bands? I can remember listening to Mint Condition and The Roots, and well, you knew it was them before you heard any singing

The Team: Tell Ross (Lyricist) - Every A&R person we have met has said the same thing. We are looking for the next big thing. Not the next Jeezy or
the next Lil Wayne. It is important in this business to find you niche and make your sound unique. We give a unique sound that you can't duplicate.

LI: Do you all think that there is a great lack of bands in the music
industry? If so, why?

The Team: T.A. (Creator, Singer) - For sure! Look at the economics of it. Let's say you have a 5 piece band versus a track. Artists make their money touring and doing shows. Would you rather get $500 a show or $100? Fortunately everyone in this group is here for the love of music and not just the love of money. Don't get me wrong, we want to get paid! We believe
if we produce music we love and that everyone can relate to, money will come. It shows how the focus in the music industry has moved from the music and to the bottom line. But it is a business; you just have to find a happy median.

LI: What has been some of the hardest challenges for you all and how do you get past them?

The Team: Tell Ross (Lyricist) - I was a successful Rapper before I became a part of the group. When you are a solo artist, you only have to worry about what you think. Working as a group you have to know your strengths and weaknesses as well as everyone else in the group. It took us a while to come up with the right combination to make this the best it could possibly be. We changed members, songs, looks, and everything so many times. But that's what the good ones do! And that is what we want to be. THE
BEST!

LI: What advice to you have for other artists and bands wanting to do what you are doing?

The Team:* T.A. (Creator, Singer) - FIND YOUR SOUND!! So many times
artists and groups come to me and say listen to my demo, I'm the next this or the next that. How do you know "the next" the music industry is looking for is not the next you! Be yourself! Take and ask for feedback from everybody you know; every music person from DJs to A&Rs. Take those comments and keep improving. When they have nothing but positives to say about your song or your CD, you made it. Whether you have a major record deal or not!!

Tell Ross (Lyricist) DO you no matter how much hatred is out there. You find often times many artists hating on other artists when ya'll in the same pool for the same reasons. That's why as much as I can I try to extend the hand to those who might not have the connections that we do or just might not be blessed with the opportunities that we've had.

LI: Anything you want to add??

Tell Ross (Lyrist) - I feel that the music today lacks substance. I feel
that we have an opportunity to bring back some of what is lacking in the industry today. When I sit down to write a verse I might even go pick up one of my psychology books or something. I like to teach in the music not just talk about something that has been talked about every time you hear a new
song in today's music.

T.A. (Creator, Singer) "Music is an art!! If you are in it for the fame,
money, or women GET OUT!! We have enough of those and we are
downsizing everyday!!!"

"ARTIST OF THE WEEK: The Team"

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: The Team
Story by Christopher Jones - Photos by Submitted Photo -

Listen: http://tinyurl.com/ym4nsq

“I just listened to God, and he told me if you build it they will come.”

That’s the exact quote T.A. used to describe building the small studio in a basement that would soon become home to The Team. “I knew I was blessed with the ability to sing, but I didn't know anything about making music or writing songs. I just listened to God, and he told me if you build it they will come. From there the drummer at my church, Jay Jones, who produced half of the tracks on the album, came and started making tracks and the rest is history.” The Team consists of T.A. on vocals, Tell Ross as the lyricist, Jeremy Huffman on keyboards, Terence Amos on drums, and Caleb Ishman and on backup vocals.

Describing their music as “cutting edge," The Team combines hip-hop and R&B together with a live band to create their unique sound. “Most music today have feature rappers on R&B projects like Chris Brown featuring Bow Wow or Usher featuring Ludacris. Our project is one big feature of the incredible lyrical style of Tell Ross with powerful and soulful singing. We like to take our fans on a musical journey by incorporating our original songs with a few of the classic R&B songs that influenced us like Indianapolis's own Babyface song "Whip Appeal" and the Jodeci version of Stevie Wonder's hit song "Lately." If the venue permits, along with the five piece band we will bring our dancers 'The Teammates.' Then you're really going to get a show!”

Very proud of their Indianapolis roots, T.A. says The Team works toward educating the world. “Indianapolis is a great musical city! There is a lot of untapped talent here. The problem and the opportunity is the rest of the world doesn't know it. That has been our goal to show the world what Indiana and the Midwest in general has much to offer to the worldwide music scene.”

The Team’s first album "A Tale of Two Cities" has been their single most gratifying accomplishment to date. “Only a few people know the struggle we have been through over the last few years to grow to this type of project. Changing members, not getting paid for shows, having music personnel after music personnel shutting doors in our face has been emotionally, spiritually, and financially hard on everyone in the group. But, we took those situations and learned from them and used them as motivation to create this album.”

Having just finished the first leg of our promotional tour in Atlanta for the 2006 Atlantis Music Festival, The Team has been working franticly promoting it. “We are currently working with Crucial Management in Los Angeles on a TV/movie placement for "Get With Me" the first release off the album. We are also currently looking for tracks for our sophomore project due out next summer. We are working with a number of different promoters in several different cities. What we are committed to at this point is The Bayou Classic in New Orleans on November 25. We are always looking for venues and concerts in Indianapolis and its surrounding cities. The winter months are when we like to focus on creating. But if the right opportunity presents itself, we're there.”

"The Team Two Styles One Goal"

Taimis Records is releasing the debut album from THE TEAM: A Tale of Two Cities, after the group signed their current movie publishing deal with Crucial Music Corporation. The group's immediate success in the movie/television market has sparked, Terrell T. Anthony, President of Taimis Records, Inc., to use this momentum to introduce the world to this ground breaking group. "We're challenging the thinking of many music professionals by releasing a product like this, but I think this is what the general public is asking for," says Anthony. The group combines hard-hitting club tracks and rap lyrics, with spirited and soulful ballads. Anthony notes, "Over 70% of the pop and R&B songs we hear today use rappers as a feature artist and vice-versa. Music lovers don't want to choose anymore. They want both."

The group features a young lyricist by the name of Tell Ross. Tell Ross, shortly after the release of his second solo project, signed up to perform on this CD in order to expand his abilities and try something different. "All of the great rappers like RUN DMC, LL, and Jay Z were able to collaborate with other styles of music to give their audience a new dimension. I believe we've done that on this album." The dynamic duo is completed by the powerful vocals of T.A. This talented singer/songwriter gives the group its identity and emotion. "I try to write and sing songs about the things I'm going through to let my audience know we share the same experiences."

Because of the uniqueness of this group, they have caught the attention of some of the leading industry professionals. Shaeda Billy with Island Def Jam Group proclaims, "These tracks are Hot!!!!" after hearing "IDWL 2" the remix to "I Don't Want to Lose," the groups second commercially released song off of the album. "This is a winning formula. This is something that has been tried a couple of times over the last decade; but the way you're doing it; I think is new and fresh," raves Bad Boy Worldwide's Creative Director and Producer Manager Dalton Hernandez.

The album is available in select stores nationwide including, iTunes, and CDBaby.com. Find out more information at www.TellTA.com.
