Bio
The Telltales are an acoustic pop band from Sydney. They have a publishing deal with Roxie Music Group and a distribution deal with MGM Distribution/Green. Their songs have featured on film, on radio and in clips on television in Australia and overseas. The Telltales launched their third album, Under the Waterline, in late 2008.
A review of that album in Sydney’s premier broadsheet, The Sydney Morning Herald, said “Peerless local duo The Telltales…write and record pop songs so perfect, so accessible, so immediately seductive that they are simply way too good. In Britain, The Telltales would be massively successful” (Brice Elder).
The Telltales released their self-titled debut album in 2003 having built a keen following playing in Sydney pubs and in venues on the East coast. The film clip from the single Absolve You from their first album received daily airplay on Max and was played on MTV and commercial TV.
The songs on the first album received the following praise in music street press: ‘Pure, heartfelt pop melodies…simple songs of love and loss’ (Drum Media) and ‘pop music which harkens back to the grand days of pop songwriting’ (The Brag).
In 2005 The Telltales released their second album, Haymaking, to critical acclaim: ‘Great melodies, intelligent playing, thoughtful arrangements and insightful lyrics — what more could you ask for in a pop record?’ (Drum Media). The single from this album, The Phone Call, featured in Solo, an Australian film which played in cinemas throughout Australia in 2006. The film clip for The Phone Call also played on Video Hits.
