"Just don't call it grunge"

'The Tempus - Thieves and Lovers
Haunting Pearl Jam-style anthem about lost loves, and doomed relationships, with waterfalling guitar solos.' - The Guardian

"First sight: The Tempus"

'...power trio from Bradford fronted by vocal and guitar volcano Jonny Miller. Imagine the Verve crossed with Led Zeppelin, plus searing Neil Young solos...Miller's socially aware lyrics suggest a world-weariness far beyond his years.' - The Guardian

"Review"

‘Strong tracks throughout, fitting perfectly alongside one another whilst encompassing the sound that is The Tempus…The vocals presented by this band give depth to each track whilst forming an emotional connection to the lyrics contained within each song…their performances remain tight and the music they produce shows great maturity.’ - Sandman Magazine

"Review"

‘The Tempus certainly have a lot going for them. They're able to turn out effortless-sounding songs, and have a real flair for subtle inventiveness...Hopefully, we'll be hearing much more from The Tempus in the future.’ - LeedsMusicScene.Net

"Review"

‘Very impressive…The Tempus are holding their own, unlike every other northern rock band that is caught up in the standard indie/rock/mod scene, hoping to follow in the footsteps of The Pigeon Detectives or The Cribs. They have original sounding, carefully pieced melodies and the hard backing of a good drummer…I reckon The Tempus mean business.’ - No-TiTLE Magazine

"Demo of the Month"

‘The combined quality in terms of songwriting, performance and recording mean that Tempus lift the prize this month. It’s a great track well recorded…Great vocals, a gorgeous understated solo...It’s a blessed relief listening to a band that can play together.’ - Future Music Magazine (On ‘Thieves and Lovers’)

"Live Review"

‘A great unit…they breeze through a strong set of straight up riff rock…sticking with a more British formula that allows for intelligent arrangements. Quite a meaty sound for a trio, particularly the guitarist proves he is more than capable with a few impressive lead parts…a successful Leeds outing for the band.’ - LeedsMusicScene.Net

"Review"

"[The Tempus] generate plenty of radio friendly classic indie tunes…well recorded, but more importantly the songs themselves are meaningful, rounded and properly thought out… immensely appealing." - Manchester Music

"Review"

‘...the sound of The Tempus is pure brilliance. Their song 'Making New' merely scratches the surface of their talents…they are a likeable three piece with an unbelievable amount of potential.’ - Beep! Magazine

"Review"

‘...utterly compelling...Promising' isn't really a word that does it justice' - Mono Magazine

"Review"

'I really think this is a band to watch out for, they have bucket loads of talent not just in the performance but the song writing and above all else seem to be happy to do what they believe in and not just follow others like sheep.'' - The Beat Surrender (March 2009)

"Review"

'The Tempus seem to have a knack of writing songs with real punch, with great hooks, with that certain 'extra' that's often elusive... these guys mix it up and keep it fluid and pretty unpredictable...one to watch out for methinks!!' - ToxicPete.co.uk

"Review"

'This is a big, fat stadium sound, kind of like a modern day Led Zeppelin... punchy, full of life, stuffed with great riffs and soulful vocal performances, wicked little solos and spot on timing...The Tempus rock. Fact.' - Die Shellsuit, Die!

"Talking tunes with The Tempus"

'Having got my attention straight away with such a full sound for a three piece - hard rocking rhythms with infectious vocal melodies - this is a band that excites me, that makes me want to stick around and hear more.' - Beep! Magazine

The Tempus, hailing from Bradford, are: Jonny Miller (age 21) on Vocals and Guitar, Luke Womersley (21) on Bass and Dave Jones (21) on drums.

The band has been going from strength to strength, securing support slots with Starsailor, Michael Head of Shack, Goldie Lookin Chain, Chris Helme of The Seahorses and The Paddingtons as well as receiving positive attention from regional, national and international media (further details and a full list of quotes is available on their myspace www.myspace.com/thetempusmusic ).

Last year also saw the band receive the mentoring services of Mike Heaton from Embrace, whose experience and advice were very useful.

They are no strangers to large crowds, having played at such venues as St George’s Hall and Odsal Stadium in Bradford. They have also played a number of local festivals, such as the popular annual event held at Saltaire.

Their most recent gigs have been around the Bradford and Leeds areas and have proven to be very successful. Their most recent gig at The Library in Leeds resulted in a very positive live review on Leeds Music Scene ( http://www.leedsmusicscene.net/article/12386/ ). They have however, also seen live success further a field in places such as Manchester, Doncaster and London.

Though the band’s promotions budget is modest, their last release, their ‘Follow You’ EP, enjoyed much attention and sales from as far a field as the USA.

Their new single ‘Lay Me Down’, was released digitally worldwide on 14th May and we’re currently in the process of trying to secure airplay and promotion in the UK and indeed, the US.
