Bio

The Tension is a young alternative rock band from New York City. The band consists of vocalist Jack Staffen, co-lead guitarists Jack Moulton and Daniel Risdon, bassist Gabe Simon and drummer Damien Moffitt.

They met each other through a rock collective of young talented musicians called Tomato’s House of Rock (THOR). Over the summer of 2010, at a recording intensive they did through THOR, the band really took off and began to write, record together and form their own style.

That summer they recorded a great sounding, powerful 3 song demo at James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and Adam Schlesinger's (Fountains Of Wayne) famed Stratosphere Sound. They all knew they were on to something new and exciting. The demo was produced by Tomato (Sound Of Urchin, etc.) and Doug Gillard (Guided By Voices, etc.)

Their influences include Muse, Queens Of The Stone Age and Radiohead and although they embody the epic sounds of these bands, they’ve managed to bring their own original twist to their music too. Together they bring a new alternative/rock sound to the table unlike anything heard before. Their sound is often described as technical and moody music, with a classic power, feel, and groove.

Around New York City they have built up an ever growing fan base. Some of their well known songs include “All Hope Is Gone”, “I.C.E” and “Kill You In Another Land”, but they’re writing more and more songs all the time and creating a vast repertoire.

The Tension are beyond passionate group of teenagers completely dedicated to the music they make. They may be between the ages of 15 and 17 but by no means does that hinder their aptitude and creativity.
