"Jade Wright recommends...The Thespians"

FORMED in April last year, Scouse band The Thespians performed their first gig at Liverpool's Mathew St Festival.

They’ve gone on to three headline appearances at the Liverpool O2 Academy already, as well as the Dawson's stage at Chester Rocks Festival.

They have recently licensed two songs, First Impressions and The Crash to MTV New York.

Even more exciting – they were the subject of yesterday’s Old Hall strip, the cult comic strip that runs in every Thursday’s ECHO.

Tomorrow night, the band Paul Thespian (lead vox / guitar), Jess Thespian (lead guitar / vox), Phill Thespian (bass) and Danny Thespian (drums) play Eric’s on Mathew Street.

Bio

Performing live for the first time in August 2010, The Thespians have since headlined the Liverpool o2 Academy 3 times, the Dawson's Stage at Chester Rocks (alongside Iggy and The Stooges) and BBC Introducing Stage at Mathew St Festival.

Early last year they were picked up by MTV New York, who licensed songs, 'The Crash' and 'First Impressions', and labeled them as, 'The next massive garage rock band, the UK's answer to The Strokes'.

Their video for, 'Reason To Reason', went viral within days of uploading it to Youtube and has now racked up nearly 40,000 views, leading to them being offered the chance to shoot a video worth £20K for 'Too Fast To Live' by a top film studio.

Last October they were asked to headline the legendary punk venue, Eric's and in the run up were featured on BBC Radio Merseyside, Liverpool Live, Bearded and SupaJam websites. They were also given interviews and coverage in Bido Lito, Cable magazine and were the first band to ever be featured in the Liverpool Echo's comic strip.

They have since been asked to perform at Alan McGee's (Oasis/Libertines) night in London, Death Disco and recently headlined the Liverpool Live Stage at Threshold Festival in February this year.

They were shortlisted for the final of SupaJam's Road to Benicassim Festival from 1000's of bands and recently featured on the BBC Radio 2 Janice Long show.
