"Single of the Month"

“Some kind of kick” is a near perfect slice of punk rock. So feverishly does vocalist Neilo howl out his sleaziod predatory lyrics, it’s as if his larynx is about to explode at any minute. The type of rock tune that any band would kill to have written.” – HOT PRESS

"NME live review 2006"

“The Things – For too long one of the most exciting bands in Ireland, their notorious breed of horror punk owes much to the past shock-rockers like the Cramps and the Misfits, but vocalist Neilo’s hybrid of Marilyn Manson and Iggy Pop is unnerving enough to set them apart from their heroes. The blues-punk of “Demon Stomp” makes the trip to hell seem worth the admission prize alone, while “psycho lover” crossbreeds ‘50s rock’n’roll with dancehall punk to thrilling effect. - NME - NME

"Single Review"

Tighter then a five year olds puckered arsehole. The debauched, psychobilly-infused shenanigans of The Things dominate the Irish gigging circuit whilst sounding remarkably un-Irish (NOT a bad thing). All wheezing organs, staccato guitars, grumbling bass and eyeliner - rarely have such contrived stage theatrics been this much fun.

This single, their second release, serves as a teaser to their album out later this year. 'Some Kind of Kick' sounds like The Amazing Royal Crowns coming off a six day coke binge. The B-side, 'I Want More' is a searing boogaloo freak out.

The Things have a musk of depravity about them. I wanna shoot up and have rough sex listening to these fuckers. Oi Oi Oi love them.

"Logo Magazine"

The Things conjure an image of Screaming Lord Sutch piloting a ghost train straight to Hell; a riff-roaring ride that should have queues forming around the block - Logo Magazine (UK)

"HWCH live review"

"The Things, frontman is a cross between Iggy Pop and Marilyn Manson, has the Carisma of 10 bands put together"

"Belfast Telegraph live review"

"With songs called ‘Psycho Lover,’ and an affection for make-up and all things Hammer Horror, Neilo and Co are easily one of the most exciting bands in Ireland. Taking equal measures of Murder City Devils, the Misfits and the Cramps, the Things are just what the doctor (or should that be an undertaker?) ordered in a climate of skinny-tie wearing boy-bands".

Bio

Dublin terror merchants The Things, since their creation in 2002 have become a national treasure in the live situations. Notorious in their homeland the band have also touted their sleazy garage rock n roll in The UK, Germany and Spain as well as making an appearance at the SXSW music festival in Austin Texas followed by a short east coast tour in the US. No stranger to high profile supports either, The Things have scared and delighted audiences before the likes of The Warlocks, The Hives, The Fall, Peaches, Arctic Monkeys, Baby Shambles, Thin Lizzy and The Damned.

The frenzied live antics of deviant front man Neilo Thing set this band apart from any other, all tarted up in make up and high heels he stalks the stage like a predator while his uber-solid henchmen trash out their songs of sex, violence and their hatred and mistrust of normality.

The Things self produced debut offering, Psycho Sound EP [Big Neck 2005] is not only a fine example of their sonic prowess but a testament to their DIY, ’no compromises’ was of operating. Expect this band to do bad bad things to you very very soon.
