Drawing on influences ranging from Elliott Smith to The Talking Heads, from The Beatles to Beirut, The Thoughts capture a sound that is visceral and haunting. Ranging from the lonely, sailing melodies shared by the violin and voice to the cascading, rolling percussion, it is a truly unique sound. Top-notch musicianship and a shared desire to create nuanced and dynamic music seperates The Thoughts from many other bands.
The Thoughts came about in December of 2006, when long-time collaborators Ian Williams and Jon Horwath joined with Seattle violinist Katie Mosehauer (Lucy Bland, Carrie Biell, Westerly). They self-produced and recorded their demo as a trio in the summer of 2007.
