The Throws began as a studio project to showcase the songs of singer-guitarist Adit Rao. Working with drummer Joey Ponchetti and a revolving cast of other characters- things continued that way for a while. But slowly, a recognizable sound started to emerge, and it caught the attention of a few music supervisors and agents in Los Angeles.
Almost unexpectedly, the songs were soon heard on TV shows such as One Tree Hill, Cougartown, Cavemen, What About Brian, and All My Children. With music airing in the U.S., Europe, Japan, India and Africa- the duo were inspired to continue writing and recording. A band was being born...
Soon, they began releasing a string of singles that eventually led to the release of their first full-length Precious. Along the way, Eliot Waldhorn took over bass duties to complete a trio.
Drawing influence from the Beatles, Radiohead, The Killers and Neil Finn (just to name a few)— Precious pairs good songs with smart production for a timeless sound. The record also features cameos by friends like John Lefler (Dashboard Confessional), Jason Orme (Dave Gahan, Alanis Morrissette) and Randy Guss (Toad the Wet Sprocket).
The Throws have quickly earned a reputation for strong life performances and a casual rejection of “L.A. rock band bullshit”.
Forget the pretense. Forget the ego. Be a great band. These are the rules.
