Appearing on Sugar Town’s women-powered stage this Saturday night are The Tights – featuring former members of Philly rock chicks Mae Pang (in case you’re making a genealogical chart or something) – go to their website right now (www.thetights.net) and download their moody, brooding version of “You Shook Me All Night Long.” If that doesn't hook you, try the moaning, synth-rocking “Not My Fault.” If you're still not into it, stay home on Saturday and listen to your Matchbox Twenty CDs. - Philadelphia CityPaper

Town Watch: Sugar Town moves to new territory this weekend (so long Saturdays at The Balcony; hello Fridays at Doc Watson's), but you'll see a lot of familiar faces. The Tights, who just rocked the Sugar stage in November, is the current home of singer/guitarist Lynette Byrnes and bassist/singer Christine Weiser, but you’ll remember them from Mae Pang. That band was loud and kinda trashy (find out a little more by Googling the phrase “one of America's Most Attractive Bands”). The Tights are not unlike that, but there are some classic harmonies and groovy keyboards mixed into the garage sound. Download the spy-themed "Save the Girl" MP3 from www.thetights.net right now.

The two coolest bands in Philadelphia that begin with a "T" are on a co-ed garage-rock bill tonight at Tritone: the Tights (ex-Mae Pang/Gal Lombardo/M-Appeal) and the Trauma Queens, just back from Japan (9:30 p.m., 1508 South St., 215-545-0475, $5).

One of the most bodacious original bands to come out of Philadelphia, their song Sweet Sunday was recently featured on Michaela Majoun's 88.5 'XPN morning show. Their volcanic alt-pop groove rock erupted from Philly's favorite garage girl threesome Mae Pang. WPRB’s Jon Solomon has also played them on his show. and they’re well-known to the top music writers in the city, including The Inquirer’s Dan DeLuca, Daily News’ Sara Sherr and CityPaper’s music editor Patrick Rapa. Bawdy singer/guitarist Lynette Miller Byrnes fronts with a booming voice as bassist Christine Weiser's harmony and solos give it a sultry edge, and John Byrnes backs the girls with his rich atmosphere of keyboards and percussion. Their soon-to-be-released CD "Carried Away" includes 10 original songs thick with melodic, amorous pulse. This highly anticipated CD will be available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, and CD Baby as well as at live performances and local stores. It includes a special appearance by their longtime drumming phenom Elisa Chiusano on the remixed song Sweet Sunday. They've performed in Philadelphia's best rock venues such as The North Star, The Khyber, Tritone, The Fire among many others.
