Biography

The Tokyo Disco Kid brings a fresh sound to an over saturated market with his infectiously catchy hooks and socially conscience raps. Born and raised in Georgia, such artist as Beck, Outkast, RadioHead and Kanye West have had a big influence on the music that Tokyo makes today. At the age of fourteen his mother bought him a keyboard, which helped to set the stage for what was to come. He has always had a love for a variety of music, but the keyboard helped him to focus on the combination of sounds that come together to create the music he loves. Today he has a home studio equipped with Pro Tools where he not only produces hits like “Fly Me” he also writes, arranges and records the vocals to complete the tracks. Writing music is something he began doing at the age of fifteen where he wrote the songs that were used in an alternative band by the name of Spectrum in which he was the lead singer. Coming from a tough childhood as explained in “Used To Be” music became an outlet for him to express his feelings regarding certain areas of his life. “I am inspired by day to day life. Reality sometimes can be harder than anything shown on TV. By writing about things that occur in my life it is easy to put depth in the metaphors that I have created in my lyrics because the words are so real to me.” With songs like “Body Shaking” and “Searching” that blend different genres of music it is clear to hear that the Tokyo Disco Kid’s sound can be enjoyed by a wide and diverse audience. Nine years in the making Tokyo has perfected his craft to a point that he is now ready to share it with the world. His main goal is to inform us of the “Story of the Kid” and help us look through a clear “Windshield” at the truth in his message.

Lyrics

Fly Me

Written By: Robert Cude

Chorus:
You can fly me to the moon
any place I want to see
makes me want to believe baby
you can take me to the stars
wherever we are
is not as far as we can be baby
every time we go away
hope I left a note
cause I feel like staying
every time I float into space
wait before I go
gotta tell Earth I'm leaving

When I'm with you baby you take me to the moon
and I don't need no spaceship all I need is you
doesn't matter what we do this song right here
it was written just to prove your my inspiration
girl and I'll never lose as long as we the same team
as long as wrong is in the past and the same things
we look toward the future I never used to feel like this
but now it starts to make good sense
in due time you'll find that everything I wrote was true
and everything I wrote for you
this is what I'm supposed to do
come over here get closer boo
so I can tell you things you like
better than any love my whole lifetime
got lost when we walked across the skyline
then never came back and if they ask questions
I'll tell them that

Chorus

Another reason and I'm lost on a light path lifted
to the reason that I'm loving this I might call in
and just chill with you and lay beside
you know Tokyo got the famous vibe
but on the moon we can stay the night
or maybe even chill with the stars this amazing right?
girl you the amazing type I stay true cause
ain't nobody better than you we might fuss sometimes
but that's all relative it came with life
and you ain't gotta tell me twice
this is how Tokyo devised a new track
and this is how the shows all stay packed
and they all sing your anthem I remember
we got lost when we walked across the skyline
then never came back and if they ask questions
I'll tell them that

Chorus x2

Wind Shield

Written By: Robert Cude

If I have to listen to another human thought
thinking taken over by the t.v. after dark
it's the 12 o'clock psychic sleazy spot
Tokyo Disco for the aftershow
waking in a fluster gotta eat myself to bed
sleeping on my wages
taxed out springs relieve my head
from the aftershock
cell phone call's been dropped
now it's on the road know where I'm to go

Chorus:
I can't see what's in front of my wind shield
I'm driving really high through life
the fog is getting in my eyes

Wasting time in closets
white witch maybe try to find
looking through the glass is half empty
we need more wine
it's not negative we just need more time
than just 24
simple math will graduate with honors
great divide
artists scholars reaching taller
bred with lovely ties in the family
creative thinking in the afterlife

chorus x2

Story of the Kid

Written By: Robert Cude

I've been through a life of pain
now I appreciate it
if I never saw those things
then I wouldn't be the same kid
while I was thinking life's a game
and damn how long I played it
I knew this was the only way
that I could ever say this

Grew up the boy Tokyo jumpstart when feelings progressed to lyrics
and they all pumped heart or rather hurt was raised in broken dreams called home
I used to act out in class to keep from feeling alone
I never coped just got more constructive with age went from class clown to lead
reciting scripts on stage it was a phase just to keep me away from feeling low
had a dad who didn't understand the father role left around 4 years
old and never even wrote not a postcard or nothing to me he was a
ghost
or maybe a scapegoat even get me off the hook
he's the reason for my anger judge please don't throw the book
might look like I'm happy even when I'm sad laugh to cause distraction
from people seeing I'm mad when they thought it was a fad
8 years non-stop told my mom 25 is when I'd make it to the top

I've been through the strongest haze
now I'm in amazement
I remember being so afraid
when my music started playing
what my friends or my mom would say
that it's good and really hate it
now I see it on their face
they truly think it's greatness

Now let me stick to the issues my god this is a vicious whiff of wisdom
it's official Tokyo got it way back in highschool never thinking bout college
didn't need it for my dreams I was born a Rhodes scholar
no tuition to feed I never needed loans my first setup was bullshit
I copped it on my own so it made me homegrown
sprouting minds with roots and you might find that underlined is rhymes of truth
time went poof and 5 years later it came a space ship
emblazoned with the disco name I make this to take you to that astroplane
of greatness it's funny length of time it takes to open up a mind
then break down the bind to fakeness it finds and outshines the safe
but I'm cool chinchilla in the summertime smooth
so just keep me in your speakers and I'll keep you in the groove

I've been through the strongest haze
now I'm in amazement
I remember being so afraid
when my music started playing
what my friends or my mom would say
that it's good and really hate it
now I see it on their face
they truly think it's greatness
