The Tony Cannam Set

Tony Cannam is the melodic and lyrical force behind The Soulnaturals, an original and high quality UK Soul/RnB project who released 2 singles and the album Sweet Communication. The tracks received extensive radio playlisting, live acoustic slots, chat shows on BBC Radio 1, BBC London 94.9, Music Choice Europe, LBC, BBC 6, Craig Charles Funk Show, as well as many Regional Radio Shows up and down the UK.

After a short break contemplating the angles of the universe, fine wines, and brand new dancefloor moves, Tony returned with his solo outing The Tony Cannam Set and Guests, a 5 track CD sampler from new label British Soul Standard, mixing a raw live edge with sophisticated songs, harmonies and arrangements for a distinct and original modern soul sound. The band is a mixture of top line musicians and individual talents, whose previous playing includes Maxi Jazz, Jerry Dammers and Miss Kier from Deeelite!

The Tony Cannam Set and Guests is a mixed bag of moods and colours, recorded at the legendary Tin Pan Alley studios for that warm and loving touch. Featuring great guest musicians and lead vocals from some of the most inspirational rising voices of the UK scene: Polly Gibbons, whose album ‘What's the Real Reason’ has received serious acclaim from the Soul & Jazz world. Saranagati, star of MTV ‘Real World’ shows, gives a belting performance on ‘I Spy with My little Eye’, and ‘Finally, I Really See’ is delivered by rising star Katy B.
