Bio

Coming from a baptist preacher's family, Charles and Harrel Owens grew up in church and witnessed several types of music in the church as they grew up. They bounced around from place to place depending upon where their dad was preaching at the time. In their teenage years, Charles and Harrel began learning to play guitar and were asked to start playing praise and worship and Christian Rock songs for the church youth group.

After a few years Charles began writing his own Christian rock, praise & worship, and love songs and pursued a short run as a solo Christian artist performing in several states including Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, New York, Tennessee, and Georgia. He completed a couple of low-budget CD's of his own giving him a little bit of recording experience, and exposure.

After a few years Charles and Harrel's dad started preaching at Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville, AL where they met David Sharp and Drew Colee. David and Drew also spent their earlier years playing Christian Rock for youth groups, and writing their own original material. So when all of the members of "The Torn Curtain" finally got together and began practicing for the first time, it was like a match made in Heaven!

Charles, Harrel, David, and Drew all "clicked" personality-wise, and musically, and they began playing for their home church and scheduling other events in the surrounding areas.

With their combined experience as performers, songwriters, speakers, and worship leaders, the members of The Torn Curtain are now taking their musical backgrounds in Contemporary Christian, Rock, Punk-rock, Southern Gospel, Country, Praise and Worship, and Blues......putting it all in a big blender, and creating and releasing their debut album in March of 2008!

With their ear-tickling mix of blues harmonica, rock guitar, country guitar, punk-rock drums, and southern rock vocals, The Torn Curtain is sure to give you a sound you've never heard before.

They have had experience playing in front of crowds ranging in size from 20 people to thousands of people for all kinds of events from weddings to festivals, and they are anxious to play for yours!

Thank you for taking this time to learn a little more about the Torn Curtain, and we hope you learn more about them in the near future!
