Bio

Purevolume.com describes the music of The Transit War as “a melodic masterpiece of pensive indie rock streaming from a place of beauty and intensity, with the bands sound engulfing a moment of rawness and elegance that few bands achieve. This is one band that will define the essence of talent and vision.”

The original concept of The Transit War started in 2001 and released their self-titled 6-song EP a year later, which did fairly well by selling out of its initial pressing. The band took its current form in late 2003 and began recording Ah Discordia! in late 2004. Produced by Grammy nominated Joe Marlett, (Releint K, Queens of the Stone Age, Fenix*Tx) the band loved the chemistry that came out of those sessions. “Joe made the recording process effortless and open for creativity to flow freely” says Jaime of the Transit War. The album iAh Discordia! was released independently January of 2005.

The success of iAh Discordia! to date has been incredible for an independent release. With the video for the song “Kerosene” seeing over 45,000 plays thus far on Yahoo! Music competes statistically with some major label releases. One of the reasons for the bands success thus far is their determination to stay on the road. “The tours have been incredible thus far,” says Jaime. “There have been the highs and lows as you would expect but our moral and chemistry have been amazing. With no distribution on our self-release touring was the only way that we were going to sell records.”

The band recently was nominated at the San Diego music awards in September of this year for 'Best Alternative Album' for iAh Discordia! which happens to be a very prestigious category in San Diego music history, with past winners being Rocket From the Crypt, No Knife, The Black Heart Procession, and Inch, all local legends and have all gone on to national success. “We were honored to have been amongst a very talented SD music scene.

The Transit War recently signed with Orange Peal records in September of 2005, and re-released iAh Discordia! nationally exactly one year after its initial release. Since then the band has started writing and recording their follow up to iAh Discordia! with producer Joe Marlett. The new album is set to be released Summer of 2006.
