Bio

The Trishas got together towards the end of 2008 for what they thought was only going to be one show, a tribute to songwriter Kevin Welch at 2009's Steamboat MusicFest. The four songstresses; Jamie Wilson, Liz Foster, Kelley Mickwee, and Savannah Welch came together to do just that. Sing...for the sake of the songs. And sing they did, around one microphone until there wasn't a single dry eye in the place. From the moment they stepped off the stage, it was obvious to all attending that this wasn't just for one show, no matter what.

Jamie Wilson, was born and raised in small town Sealy, TX, she has spent the last 6 years touring extensively throughout Texas and the U.S. as the only girl in the sweetheart band of the hill country, The Gougers. Liz Foster, a native of Seagoville and most every other small town in Texas you can rattle off right away, home-schooled herself from a young age so she could pursue her love for music by working the Opry circuit, traveling with various vocal groups, Motown revues and musical theater troupes. Kelley Mickwee, raised in Memphis, TN, is the most recent Austin resident. She grew up listening to the rich sounds of Stax and Sun Studios, and eventually became half of the duo, Jed & Kelley, in which she toured throughout the country and released 2 records that got sweet praise from Americana and Folk critics. Savannah Welch, was born in Nashville, TN to acclaimed recording artist and songwriter, Kevin Welch. She began adopting Austin as her hometown at the young age of 15 and moved there not long after. Pursuing a career in film, she attended UT for a year, then promptly quit school to work in the music industry and begin acting - bigger roles in smaller movies, smaller roles in bigger movies - although she’s spent time in Los Angeles, she still calls Austin home.

To give you an idea of the sound you'll hear, think of what would happen if Texas dirt, Mississippi River water, City Lights and Apple Pie all sat down in a pickin' circle at an Austin, TX backyard party. This combination creates a kind of soul that’s as raw as the places they each come from, and plants a seed of bluegrass that gives the blues a place to grow from. Add songwriting that's as refined and unapologetic as the voices that sing them, an invitation to join the party with southern charm as thick as it is genuine, and rhythm you couldn't shake a stick at – but you'll want to – and you've got The Trishas.
