Bio

"It didn't turn out to be a one-off project-- a surprise to everyone in that busted practice room at the time. Those first few rehearsals proved to be not only the start of a great friendship, but also the project known as The Trolleys, which quickly surpassed Arthur's original black-booted Britpop concept as the songs grew almost on their own, climbing like Virginia creeper from gig bag notebooks. The folk songs Tim penned were amplified and re-envisioned in sprawling musical narratives romantic and political, and characters mysterious and memorable. Even when electrified in a truly alternative rock arrangement featuring violin and saxophone, the folk heart remains true in every song.

"After the first experiments in the studio gave rise to the self-produced "We Were All There and Young EP", released in September 2007 to a limited run of 500 silkscreened albums, The Trolleys set to work building a following between Boston, MA and Providence, RI, playing venerable local venues such as AS220, The Living Room, and Abbey Lounge, PA's Lounge, Tommy Doyle's, The Underground, and Decibel @ Club Hell. With the addition of new arrival to Providence via Brooklyn, Pete Drinan, the band has transformed itself once again as Northerners now outnumber Southerners (unfortunately) and as a heavy dosage of jazz has been injected into a musical cocktail humming with contrails of punk, indie pop, Western and Eastern classical, and delta blues. At any moment, it may sound like '67 Beatles mixed with Kings of Leon grit and Dave Matthews fusion have sifted through the speakers onstage. Regardless of the comparisons, it's just bare-hearted rock and roll from two brothers and three friends."
