The Twang

We’re a band from Germany that covers rock, pop, heavy metal & disco classics in a rather unusual way: We turn them into country & western songs. We’ve started out in 1998 and caused a little wave of countryfying bands here in Germany - Texas Lightning (of Eurovison fame) and The BossHoss name us as their influences.

The concept took off! We’ve signed a record deal and played a lot of festivals (from punkrock-festivals feasting on the Honkytonk side of the Ramones, Sex Pistols or even Turbonegro to classic Country Festivals like the Silkeborg Scandinavian Country Club). Even in Texas, the land of Country & Western the music scene became curious. So we toured Texas in 2000, 2004 & 2009 making a lot of friends and playing with musical legends like Redd Volkaert, Cindy Cashdollar or Earle Poole Ball the longtime pianist and friend of Johnny Cash.

Our latest album was recorded in Germany and Texas. It features friends like Martin Wenk from Calexico, Erik Hokkanen from Heybale or 80year old pedal-steel legend Herb Remington who began his musical career in the late forties with Bob Wills.

Please note that there’s also a band called „The Twang“ in Britain. We’ve had a legal dispute over the name which was settled in a rather friendly manner out of court.
