The Twisted Melons

 Glasgow, Scotland, GBR

High energy, forward-thinking, maximalist psychedelic groove pop from the Mull of Kintyre combining pop hooks and a rock edge with blasts of melodic psychedelic noise.

The Twisted Melons are a modern psychedelic rock band based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Comprised of the three Johnson brothers who grew up near the remote Mull of Kintyre on the west coast of Scotland, the band have a diversity that takes in a wide range of reference points including Faith No More, grunge, The Flaming Lips, Manic Street Preachers, Funkadelic, Radiohead, The Who, Julian Cope, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, Television, Primal Scream, Hendrix, Jane's Addiction, David Bowie, The Beach Boys, Friendly Fires and Acid Mothers Temple.

A true live act with over 400 live shows under their belts and an almost telepathic sibling musical understanding, The Twisted Melons are a band that is best experienced live at close quarters.

With an improvisational ability that reminds of the great rock and fusion groups of the past combined with a modern pop sensibility, the band's motto is Be More Awesome.

"Imagine the Manic Street Preachers covering the Pixies, and you're close"
Eddy Temple-Morris, XFM

"...veers somewhere between the frenetic pace and monster riffage of Biffy Clyro and the kind of stadium rock choruses the Foo Fighters have been knocking out for the past decade, creating a sound that is remarkably spacious and frankly, huge"
The List

"The combination of intellectual rock, hard-core riffs and brilliant musicianship gives The Twisted Melons a style which is simultaneously nostalgic and unique, as well being as highly pleasing to the ear."
