"The Umbrella Sequence - Events"

"Oh, and then there's the line "Listening to Deicide..." It doesn't matter what comes next. Once you've said that, you're already miles outside the alt.pop universe. And, of course, you're making me laugh. I had to stop the disc for a couple minutes after I heard that one."

"Aversion"

"The Umbrella Sequence obviously spent a great deal of time pouring over the same pop albums that melted everybody else's twentysomething hearts, but instead of languishing over the perfect pop song -- or a few dozen amazing bands' best shots at it -- it just charges ahead. It's enough to make you wish more posters would stop obsessing over pop's past victories and work on creating fresh, brand-new ones." - www.aversion.com

"Qromag"

"Four years after their debut, The Umbrella Sequence's Events is a widespread digi-rock carnival and each song a different ride. Synth-heavy rock ballads, glitchy shuffles, and mellow swirls highlight their neatly-developed second effort. Events is a near split of showing off accomplishment and potential."

-Ben Manchester - www.qromag.com

"Pulse of the Twin Cities"

"…the record they made is dense, complex, and heavily orchestrated; it also displays a level of self-confidence and quiet sophistication that belies their youth."
- Vol. 7, Issue 4

"Pioneer Press"

"Songs such as "Waltz of Thaughme" and "Athena" float through movements that are mellow and dreamy one moment and shake the floorboards the next."

"The City Pages - Online"

"Crackling laptop bleeps, candy-cane lullabies, crystalline production, and Ryan Rupprecht's falsetto swirling in a flurry around your ears--beautiful tunes for life in a snow globe."

"The Big Takeover Issue"

"…they delve and probe a space-age sound first probed 35 years ago by David Bowie's Space Oddity and furthered by Brian Eno, where organs glint, guitars meditate, and drums and bass repeat patterns until you zone out the rest of the world. The atmosphere is the thing, and this one is very fragrant."

"The Spectator News"

"…there were times that the band shook the floorboards with the overlaying resonance of melodic keyboard and intense guitar…The band also knew how to connect with its audience. You know if a musician is on stage, they love what they do. But The Umbrella Sequence made its audience as passionate about the music as the members are."

"Howwastheshow.com"

"I've seen this band maybe 3 or 4 times, and each show is different. Tonight's seemed to stay pretty much right on course; it was tight and enjoyable, and I can see why this band continues to do well."

Bio

The Umbrella Sequence use laptops, drum machines, guitars, synthesizers, pianos, handclaps, gameboys, live drums, and Ryan Rupprecht's vocal chords to make indie-pop music for you. Members Jacob Swogger (guitars/programming/vox), Ryan Masterson (bass/synth), Marshall Baltzell (drums/percussion), Alan Church (guitar/vocals) and the affirmentioned Ryan Rupprecht (vox/keyboards) form the band's moody foundation. The four-piece create melodic rock inspired by the likes of ELO, Daft Punk, The Unicorns, and Super Furry Animals.

An Umbrella Sequence live show is pretty much the bee's knees. Never the same show twice, they bring it. Whether it's bringing the acoustic show to a theater, the beater guitars and sweaty punk rock to a filthy bar, or all the bells and whistles to the best club in town, the Umbrella Sequence can hold their own while playing with a diverse range of bands. The band has taken their music across the US on numerous occasions and has shared the stage alongside bands like The Starlight Mints, Tapes n Tapes, Of Montreal, The Advantage, The Klaxons and Cloud Cult.

With the help of Princess Records (Minneapolis, MN - Halloween, Alaska, Jeremy Messersmith, These Modern Socks) the band will be promoting "Events" with national and regional shows in fall/winter of 2007.
