Bio

If variety is the spice of life, The Uncontrollable Few surely packs a flavorful punch! This explosive Chicago-based indie rock group offers an addictive pop sensibility, drawing from influences all over the musical map. Their latest release, Say It With Cobblestones!, shows off their range while tackling the array of reactions triggered by love/hate relationships with romance, society, and even oneself.

It all started in Westmont, an uneventful suburb of Chicago. A few friends got together to play a variety show at their high school in 2003. After some more shows, a few line up changes, and a graduation from obscure covers to original songs, they released the All-American Apathy EP just in time for the 2004 election. By early 2005, their first LP, Paper, Scissors, Rock was released. Though a raw and imperfect effort, PSR showed amazing potential for a group of kids ranging from 18 down to 14.

After high school, as many things, the band started to disassemble a bit, but the songwriting core of Charlie Crane and Megg Sorensen never lost their drive. With a lot of time and effort, they wrote, arranged, recorded, produced and released Say It With Cobblestones! in 2008.

Its title taken from graffiti of the 1968 riots in France, Say It With Cobblestones! is a different kind of pop album. Light-years ahead of their previous releases, it impressed their audience and was described as their breakthrough. It explores a personal yet universal look at the battles between love and hatred through music that's both catchy and unique. Influences from The Beatles, Elvis Costello, and Blondie to The New Pornographers, The Pixies, and The White Stripes can be heard. But among these great influences, The Uncontrollable Few still maintains their thrilling originality.

Currently, The Uncontrollable Few has an energetic new rhythm section and is frequenting Chicago venues, including their performance as part of the 2008 International Pop Overthrow Festival. Crane and Sorensen continue to write great new tunes, and The Uncontrollable Few continues to rock their way through the exciting Chicago scene.
