Bio
The Union Electric has been steadily cranking out songs relevant to the city, the worker, and the displaced. There are many stories they tell and although there may be similar themes, the music reflects the individuality of each tale told.
The band's debut full length(Time Is Gold) has been played on college and community radio all across the United States and in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
The band consists of Tim Rakel, Glenn Burleigh, Melinda Cooper, Mic Boshans, and Brad Vaughn. All are established musicians who are committed to their creative community in Saint Louis and beyond. The Union Electric has shared bills with a diverse group of musicians such as Dax Riggs, Murder By Death, Robert Sarazin Blake, Danbert
Nobacon, The Fervor, and Arrington de Dionyso.
Time Is Gold is preceded by three 7” releases and continues the band’s practice of weaving chaotic rock arrangements around each song’s folk core. This first full-length album includes a few songs from the vinyl singles as well as new material with varying subject matter. “Truman” traces the history of the modern presidency while “St. Francis of Illinois” plays tribute to Vachel Lindsay, a man considered by many to be the father of modern performance poetry.
