The Upshaw Redemption was formed in April 2010 by founding members Van Oliver (vocals and lead guitar), Ryan Wyre (vocals and bass), and Tyler Hamilton (drums) in response to an upcoming talent show. Van was unable to attend and Aaron Mann stepped in to fill his role. After winning second place, the band decided to become official and legit: more than just a high school talent show project. They... kept Aaron Mann for rhythm guitar.
The name of the band has been a question of debate in the recent times, but is still the name as of now. Although 'Upshaw' is the high school principal, and we're not Lynyrd Skynyrd, and our name sounds like an unfunny pun of "The Shawshank Redemption", the members and many fans have supported the name, so it's sticking around.
Name confusion aside, we are currently an aspiring young collection of talent constantly looking for gigs and potential performances. If you'd like us to play at your venue or party, or have any suggestions, hit us up.
We currently have an EP recording in the works, along with a plethora of upcoming events that you're all invited to attend. Stay tuned and stay in touch.
