Austin Texas. Oh how the music world idolizes thee. Vacation Gold is no exception to that rule with their psychedelic blurry garage sound. In fact their former moniker of Spacetruck was awarded the 2003 Austin Music Award for Best Space Rock/Experimental Psychedelic Band (part of the reason why Austin is so cool is that there’s even a category for that). The Vacation Gold are three friends who grew up in the small town of Amarillo, Tx. Their influences all differ.Chris - skate punk background.Will - more rock and new wave background and Cam - he like hip hop. They didn't start playing together until they met again in Austin while attending college. One thing that sets them apart is that they have played together in three different bands over the span of seven years.Will Rhodes has played with the likes of Dave Dondero(himself and SunBrain),Chris Heinrich(Preston School of Industry,Okkerville River), Clint Meyers(Jim White). Chris and Cam have played together for over 10 years which makes for a fine rhythm section, indeed. "We have been through love, divorces, children,addictions,tours, and are still best friends" thats what sets us apart from many others.
