"Unique Sound"

"[Val Nebbia has] an edgy sound, infused with raw emotion… 'She's a uniquely gifted artist,' Cindy [Bauchspies] said of Val. 'She has a huge, mighty voice and she has a wonderful spirit about her, so she has the whole package.'… Val is putting her emphasis where it counts most - on musicality, rather than on flash and image. 'She's got her vocal skills and expressive skills together,' Rob [Levit] said. 'She has a really strong, powerful and flexible voice. She can be a powerful bluesy singer but also can go subtle down to a whisper and pull on your heart strings, too.'"

- Diane Ray - Capital Gazette

"For All The Right Reasons"

“Valerie Nebbia has a beautiful and powerful voice – she can belt it out with bravado but even more impressive is her ability to get ultra-quiet and bring a room to an intense hush. She is one of the most interesting, thought-provoking, and sincere singer/songwriters I have worked with in quite some time. It’s nice to see a vocalist who’s gone back to the basics – creating music for the mind from the soul for all the right reasons.” - Rob Levit - Independent Review

Bio

The Nebbia Band is the latest group to rock the alt folk scene. Born along the crooked banks of Annapolis, Maryland, the band has been called “innovative,” “promising,” and “the freshest new folk.”

Front woman Val Nebbia has something to say. Drawing off her extensive musical background and formal opera training, Val brings profound lyrics to life with her electric voice.

Joining Val in 2006 as an accomplished violinist and arranger, Care became the band’s do-all musician, playing violin, piano, mandolin, and egg shaker. Care combines classical training with an improvisational fiddle style, layering with Val’s power vocals. When Care married Val’s brother Eric, she became a permanent fixture in the Nebbia Band.

Drummer Tim Cefaratti joined the duo in early 2008 And expanded the boundaries of the band to combine folk with edges of rock and pop.

Bassist Josh McKnew came on in April 2008 with musical roots in screamo and hardcore, Josh weaves a strand of modern effects with his stellar bass riffs.

Each band member adds musical complexities to Val’s deliberate lyrics. The Nebbia Band is best experienced at full volume—live in concert.
