Bio

The Michigan band comprises Steven VanIwaarden (voice, guitar), Jairimi Driesenga (bass), Ryan Fluharty (guitar) and Mitch Dykema (keys), who came together as their current line-up within the past year. Their sound is a very melodic alternative rock/pop with hint of art-house indie and dance (think Pheonix, Muse, Mutemath and Coldplay)

THE VANDRIE formed in the spring of 2007 when founding members Steven VanIwaarden (voice, guitar) and Jairimi Driesenga (bass) met, through a mutual friend, over a cup of coffee. The two had an immediate creative chemistry and began writing what would soon become material for THE VANDRIE. Steven enlisted the help of old bandmates, Ryan Fluharty (guitar) and Mitch Dykema (keys), to bring their talent and ideas to the songs Steven and Jairimi had been writing.

The new group began performing in local bars and clubs and caught their first big break when they entered the “Project: Encore” battle of the bands held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They won their preliminary round, and while they did not win in the finals, they were noticed by talent scout John Kunz from Stagelight Entertainment who signed the band to a management contract with his new company, Arrowhead Productions.
The Vandrie are based in Holland, Michigan and their music has been gaining great recognition all throughout the Mid-West and beyond.

The band’s debut EP, 'Man. Verse. Theory.' was released in 2010 and is available online as well as from many independent music retailers local to the band.
The band is currently trying to make a name for themselves locally and nationally by giving unrelentingly passionate live performances and captivating audiences with their honesty and unique ability to blend rock music with art and style.
