Bio

The Vanguard, in its present form, has been a long time coming in existence in the loosest sense of the word for more than a decade, bassist Rasko Ristic began collaboration guitarist David Zawadzki when they met in junior high school. In the years that followed, Dave and Rasko played with countless other musicians in search for the perfect mix that would satisfy their desire to make lively, meaningful music that, in a sense, paid homage to the great bands that drove their love of music at a very young age. It wasn't until 2006, when Dave and Rasko met Luciano (Luke) Rovner that this vision began to come to fruition and The Vanguard, in its present form as a musical entity, began to take shape. In their collaboration, the band spent countless hours writing the backbones for songs that would later be recorded in the Fiasko EP that would be finished no sooner than a year from its date of conception. After several tireless months of writing, the guys took on the search for a singer that would give the group the dramatic flair that they sought. And so, early in 2007 Luke, Dave and Rasko met Aaron Barr, the talented vocalist and only American of the group; and as they say, the rest is history.

More than ten years in the making and with talent hailing from three continents, The Vanguard traveled many a musical roads before coming together early in 2007 in an effort to create music that they, collectively, felt was honest and worth listening to. In a market oversaturated by fads, The Vanguard have successfully been able to infiltrate the New York rock scene with a sound that took the back seat to new bands whose music is limited to nostalgia for 70's disco and 80's new wave. Perceptibly influenced by the great songwriters and performers of their youth, The Vanguard provides the solution for those nostalgic for straightforward, thoughtful rock music that many claim died in the late 90's.

With songs that reveal a new twist on familiarity such as Go On, The Vanguard has appropriately set the stage for the return of solicitous, poignant, energetic melodies.

And when fused with the vigorous, hypnotic vocals of lead singer Aaron Barr and the iron-clad rhythm section as in Monday Night, The Vanguard's Fiasko EP is the long awaited solution for fans hungry for a departure from easy-bake pop melodies.
