Scene magazines' review of the Varmints new record!!

the Varmints have recently finished with our newest enttitled :

"Lucid Hallucinations "

contact us on here or call 371 2969 or 371 0647 to obtain your free FREE copy. This is what scene magazine had to say about it: "Psychedelic rock only deserves its name when the fuzz and feedback are thick enough, convincing enough, that you you feel like your brain is swimming in whiskey and madness, trapped inside your skull and trying to get out. When the Varmints are at their best, they channel this sort of freak-out intensity, the heavy Morrison-esque vocals breaking into an unhuman harpy's shriek while the guitars dither and distort like lines along a mandala, hypnotizing the ear with their not quite concenrtric circles and geometric arabesques. If not all emotion can be expressed with words, then the Varmints brand of psychedelia takes the listener to that extremely personal place where one feels at odds with all external physical reality, but in tune with the self. A fancy way of saying that thi sis some great music to zone out to. Building on the more straight-ahead rock base on their previous release "Love Pony", their new material explores more sonic territory and also hits a bit harder as well, never venturing into anything meaner than Ozzy era Black Sabbath, but still sounding comfortable rocking out as hard as anyone did while nixon was in office. One gets the feeling the garage these guys practice in doesn't have posters for anything that came out after Jim Morrison died, but given their skill at and ferver for updating classic riffs with their own sound, its probably best to let these guys dodge the draft and keep on rocking like its 1972 again."-Nathan Harper Scene magazine

Bio

The current lineup of the Varmints has been together for three months after replacing Danny Morrison(Bassist on "Lucid Hallucination") with Nick Perich. However, miles and zach have played with eachother for over 4years replacing numerous bassists. The Varmints' music consists of hard and soft rock fused with psychedelia and some metal. Our bread and butter is playing live. We will play anytime anywhere for any price as long as there are people present. We write about love, life, death, and mind expansion. Influences include: The Beatles, Black Sabbath, The Doors, The Meat Puppets, Strawberry Alarm Clock Metallica, the Jefferson Airplane, Nirvana and many more. What sets us apart from most bands out there is that we arent riding the screamo puss-rock bandwagon. We dont usually play covers because we have so much of our own material. We actually know how to play our instruments and can make more sound than most power trios.
