"CD Review Vestige (9 of 10 points)"

The first self-produced EP 'Sleeping Among Serpents' of those french dudes was indicating already, what now, on the follow up mini-album called 'Vestige' should stand out in all clarity: We are witnessing a young band here, that delivers exotic yet fascinating Gothic Metal in a complex and dreamylike way, being so much far from all known categorizations of the typical darker, lulling sounds.
Frontwoman Jensara Swann shows some seductive, as well as sensual beasty vocal talent, embracing the five tracks like a sexy corsett, infolding them like an almost invisible fog or is gently blowing around them like the gentle evening wind. And with the help of sound magician and Anorexia Nervosa-keyboarder Mr.Xort, pushed forward by heavy guitars, some travel through the gothic labyrinth is developping, at which you always gotta stay aware of maybe being lured in the dark woods by some will-o'-the-wisps. EXCEEDINGLY FASCINATING. (Bjon Springorum)

"CD Review Vestige"

This french band with their versatile singer Jensara Swann we probably will see again in our regular soundcheck pretty soon. Cause on VESTIGE the band is celebrating some bombastic Gothic Metal of premium quality class. Poppy melodies meet hard and modern riffing, and on top of it all is floating the voice of the red haired front elf, sometimes fragile, then again smoky or aggressive. In each and every minute of this album (five songs, running time approx. 25 minutes) you can hear, that some professionals are crafting their art here. A pounding production and stunning artwork is not at all less valuable than official releases, so that dark souls should immediately visit this site: www.myspace.com/theveilonline. (Marc Halupczok)

"CD Review Vestige (11 out of 12 points)"

To rate this second self produced mini-album of this french band, a simple "WOW!" would do the job...But at the same time you have to ask yourself, why The Veil don't have a record deal yet, it seems the international talent scouts are sitting on their own worthy ears. Possibly this will change with the actual 5-track-album, with which, as stated before, the quartett has created an honestly stunning, little jewel. Dark and mysterious, infatuating and just magically the compositions are thrilling your senses and are astonishing you with such a dense atmosphere, so that you almost lose your breath. At least as much breathtaking you listen to the original, yet vary varied voice of frontlady Jensara Swann, who, just like the mood affords, is able to intonate the melodies in a powerful or fragile way, warm or catching way or even almost in a diabolically dark touch, just never is going down on the level of superficially soft and genre-typical singing. All friends of mystical darkness are clearly advised to check out the sound examples on their myspace-page and order the CD. Essential! (Daniela Sickinger)

"MCD Review Sleeping Among Serpents"

While some might have already been done with female fronted metal since a while, The Veil from the south suddenly appear and push the boat out. Singer Jensara Swann and soundmagician Ben Notox combine cold Electro, well placed guitars and catchy Goth Metal vocals without any kitsch factor, what leads to a real pounding Industrial Goth Metal-creation, that can even convince haters of this genre with its unique sound and freshness. Its always good to see a young band daring something new and different, if something like this comes out of it. (Pee Wee Vignold)

"MCD Review Sleeping Among Serpents"

The stunning artwork of this album outshines quite a lot other demos already, but this is only the beginning: Behind the predicative bandname two charismatic french people are unveiled: Jensara Swann, who gives life to the compositions with her magical voice and Ben Notox, who conjures the sound. The first notes of 3 Days Black are hammering with a powerful beat out of your speakers and build up a demanding atmosphere with deliberate interspersed guitar riffs, in which the majestic voice of the diabolic beauty can dive in entirely.
Who now expects another sugary susurrant princess, whose organ tediously lumbers through the songs without any draught, couldn't be more wrong. The Veil don't chase any hype or trend, they manage to create a very own atmosphere in their sound.
The partly beseeching vocals emphasize the macabre, restless basic tenor of Sleeping Among Serpents, most of all in EnLIEtenment it is the beats, that incessantly drive the listener towards the abyss of his existence. With Sweet Sister Creep a lascivious cult song is hidden on this disc, which points out the qualities of this formation.
All the tracks are arranged precisely and create a creepy yet wonderful atmosphere: subtle horror meets pure mystic. The addiction factor is high, hopefully we'll soon hear more tracks of this creative duo! (Lisa Hofer) - METAL HEART Magazine (GER) - May 2006

"Battle Of The Bands-Best 50 Newcomers of 2007!"

After Tantrum and Punish Yourself another act with participation of Kult-Black Metalheads Anorexia Nervosa is banging on the table! Harsh Industrialelectro-Beats, energetic guitars, Jensara Swanns virtuosity of her roaring voice and digital bombast deliver some stilistical firework, that shows no mercy. The freaky sextett proves on "Sweet Sister Creep" once again, how our neighbourcounty France does justice to its claim to be the creative centre. (FD)

Bio

Travelling from Electro to Metal, blending together the best of Darkwave and Gothic, mixing the spirit of classical orchestrations to the lower instincts of industrial sounds, the heavy and heady riffs of alchemist Ben Notox, and the seductive and haunting vocals of siren Jensara Swann, take the listener into a whirlwind of emotions.
Emerging from the chaos of creation during the ending hours of year 2004, THE VEIL released their first musical legacy in march 2006 with their debut EP, Sleeping Among Serpents, immediately outlined by major music magazines around the world as a band of a new kind, with an already unique and fascinating identity for a newcomer band.

2007 will see the birth of a digital EP," Reveilations", offered by the band as free download on their web platforms, followed shortly by the maxi album" Vestige", unleashed upon the world in april 2008 and rapidly confirming the potential and place of the band in the alternative scene. After many gigs through France and a european tour opening for German gothic kings, Samsas Traum, the band was invited to play the legendary Wave Gothik Treffen Festival in Leipzig, elected one of the best new bands of the year by Sonic Seducer magazine (German Number 1 gothic magazine) and selected for french Hellfest contest.

From then on, these pirates haven't stopped wandering the roads of Rock n Roll, playing on their way the legendaryUnderworld venue in London, or the cult Metal Female Voices Festival In Wieze, Belgium, while preparing a brand new full length album to be recorded and released next year !
So stay tuned and keep some space free on your Ipod, because they are coming for YOU !
