The Velvet Cadillacs
We are about playing music. Rock music. Music we’ve written or wish we’d written. We play it because we like it, because it means something to us, and because it’s a kick. Rock n’ roll. Played with a purpose. Will our music change the world? Probably not. Will it change your mood? You bet.
The Velvet Cadillacs are a Chicago based band playing original rock and roll. Influenced by the Replacements, Cheap Trick, Johnny Cash, the Ramones, and similar bands, we are a mix of rock, country, power pop, and punk.
We released our EP "Wish I Was Cool" in August 2008 and "Pretty Little Boxes" in the Fall of 2011. We are a family friendly band and frequently play neighborhood festivals and other all ages venues, such as Six Flags Great America.
Past gigs include the Cubby Bear, The House of Blues, John Barleycorn (Schaumburg), International Pop Overthrow Festival 2011, 2010 and 2009, The Abbey Pub, Six Flags Great America, Elbo Room, Edgebrook Fest, Wildwood Music & Arts Festival, Naperville "Big Block" Party, North Park University, Penny Road Pub (South Barrington), The Brick, Birds Nest, Phyllis’ Musical Inn, Gallery Cabaret, Goodtimes Pub (Elmhurst), Flatlander’s (Lincolnshire), Rosie O’Briens, Big Horse Lounge, Underground Lounge, Bar Vertigo, Bevis Bar (Naperville), Hollywood Lounge, Memories Lounge, Fantasy Lounge, and The Flabby Hoffman Show (cable TV).
Our songs have also been featured in various media outlets, such as iRadio LA, LastFm, Underworld Mix Radio, Moozikzoo Best of Indie compilation, Pop Against Parkinsons, and the Music for Peace Initiative.

She works from 9 to 5, I work til dawn. By the time that I get home, she's already gone. Dinner for one, goodnight kisses on the telephone, you know the night shift ain't no place for a man in love.
The night shift ain't no place for a man in love. The night shift ain't no place for a man in love. She told me things were gonna be just fine, without all the over time. You know the night shift ain't no place for a man in love.
It's quittin time, it's happy hour. I think I'll stop for a beer. The rising sun is my only friend, how'd I end up here? Please don't forget me. As you walk out into the world. You know the night shift ain't no place for a man in love.

Mommy didn't want me 30 years old, playing my guitar for work
"You're middle class, baby, don't rock the boat. And be a good boy in school". Daddy should've been a baseball player, cause that's what he liked to do. But he didn't like risk then he stole a little kiss, now he's a corporate dude.
Hey Mommy take a look a me, I'm playin' at the Holiday Inn. I made a lot more as a corporate whore, but now I get to sleep til 10.
Hey little man are you looking at me, I used to be in your shoes. Three power chords and an attitude, and I played at my talent show, hey ho, let's go.
The metra train can be a tour bus, after a tall boy beer. Head down thinking of the two of us, wishing you were here. Now the moneys good, the house is big, the handcuffs tight and my future's bright, but I'd rather be playing, at the Holiday Inn.
Hey mommy take a look a me, I'm playin' at the Holiday Inn. I made a lot more as a corporate whore, but now I get to sleep til 10.
