Bio

Strong vocals, passionate drumming, melodic bass lines, catchy guitar riffs. The Vinyl Sea get your attention, but they don't loose you with obscure or hard to listen to rock. Its gutsy without being aggravating. It's gentle without being wimpy. There's always something new to keep you intrigued. Music that's loved by young and old; timeless and unique all in one.

The Vinyl Sea formed in early 2005, with Pia and Antonella as the main songwriters. At this stage, the songs were young, very folksy influenced and much softer and moodier, hence the name "The Climbing Roses."

In December 2005 they were joined by Russ Lewis, and his powerful, expressive rock style gave these delicate tunes a more cohesive direction - they became the sort of songs people took notice of.

Only a year into its start and The Vinyl Sea had amassed quite a repertoire of tunes. In mid 2006, the band was encouraged to record some of their material with Sounds Suite Studios. Perhaps naively, they set out to record twelve songs, a massive effort and one not without tears and frustration, but the result was 10 workable songs and a process which further gelled the Vinyl Sea sound and gave each member confidence in the song writing, the tunes and the direction the band was going in. The process also resulted in picking up an extra member, Brett Potter - Sounds Suite producer and engineer.

The Vinyl Sea have played regularly around Perth, constantly developing and improving their live sound as well as a studio sound, and continue to work on new tunes and explore new directions.

With diverse individual influences, from Jazz to Heavy Metal and Dance, their is no end to the styles and sounds that the Vinyl Sea are willing to explore. Yet somehow, their is a cohesiveness in the music that guarantees you can pick a Vinyl Sea song when you hear it.
