The Violet May are an electric and inspiring live act; I saw them at my club night and it was intense. They're from Sheffield and add a violent rush to the hedonistic stoner riffs of Josh Homme. They want to tell the world that their time is now. - Guardian
REVIEW: The Violet May
"The Violet May, a must-see of Sheffield's unsigned acts..."
"The crowd shout along, jump at the right times and gravitate towards frontman's Chris McClure's magnetic stage presence..." - Sheffield Telegraph Published Date: 04 February 2010
"Live, The Violet May are noisy and melodic with just the right amount of rough around the edges. With a stack of killer tunes and a performance to match, it won’t be long before they’re filling venues everywhere – although who knows if the buildings will still be standing at the end of the night..." - Published Date: 04 February 2010
"But they are far removed from the indie schmindie sounds of Rotherham's finest scallywags, the Arctic Monkeys. Beginning on an ominous post-punk note, the band gradually morph into uplifting blues guitar as they channel that unwavering spirit of anarchy with their kamikase stage antics..." - The Relentless Garage April 8 2010
"I have seen the future of Rock n' Roll" - Dave Spencer
It happens every few years: something inspires a band to emerge out of the vacuum of mediocrity and slice through the world of Rock n' Roll and present a new slant on the whole idium of performance and entertainment! Jerry Lee Lewis, The Who, Hendrix, Sex Pistols, The Smiths, Oasis.... The Violet May!" - ourgenerationpunkandmod.co.uk
