Since forming in early 2009 The Violet May have been sounded out as one of The Guardian's "15 Tips for 2010", named as Steve Lamaq's "new favourite band" on his BBC 6Music show as well as appearing on the show, shot their debut video with Douglas Hart of Jesus & Mary Chain, headlined London's infamous KOKO venue (1,800 capacity) twice, played Leeds Festival, Secret Garden Party, a sold out Italian tour, a German tour with The Chapman Family, opened for Band Of Skulls and Boxer Rebellion, as well as winning widespread support and praise from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, XFM, The Guardian, NME, The Sun, Clash and Artrocker.

This summer The Violet May released their EP “TV” (July 2011) and headed out on a UK headline tour in conjunction with Metropolis Music in October along with two acclaimed performances at Iceland Airwaves Festival.

The recent free download of the track "What You Say" is currently one of NME's "10 Best Mp3's This Week" and on Q Magazine's "New To Q" playlist, while the EP title track is also featured on the forthcoming Channel 4 series "Misfits".

The band have just tied up an album deal with Going Early Records (label managed by the ex-General Manager of Warner Music, Adam Hollywood) and head into the the legendary Chapel Studios in January 2012 to record their debut album with Jon Gray (Primal Scream, Subways, Coral) to be released in 2012.
