"Review of Performance on All the Buzz"

"On the majority of lead vocals is Virginia Klemens, whose own band has shared bills with artists ranging from Leon Russell, Doc Watson and Leo Kottke, to Howlin’ Wolf, Tom Waits and Maria Muldaur. I found her singing to be just right – not too sweet, not too sour, capable of belting out or crooning, with a range and tone that lands somewhere between Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt".

"Virginia Klemens My Goodness"

“Virginia Klemens updates Memphis Minnie's 1929 hit "Bumble Bee" to an infectious shuffle. Bessie Smith's "Sugar In My Bowl" and the Depression-era classic "Why Don't You Do Right", are backed with the kind of insistent four-beat chord rhythm that characterized the neo-Vaudevillian efforts of the Beatles and Spoonful in the late Sixties. The volume dips to a whisper to emphasize Klemens' voice on key verses. Virginias’ tastefully gritty renditions are supported with satisfying vocal harmony from the band.” - Heritage Music Review

Bio

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Virginia Klemens has a rich musical history in Chicago since the 1970’s and has been actively working in the Northwest USA since 1995. She performed with many of Chicago's blues, rock and folk greats and toured with top artists for many years as well. Virginia won the 2006 “Best Female Vocalist” BB award from the Washington Blues Society and also the 2005 “Best Blues Recording” for Western and Eastern Washington for her work. "Her voice is loud, proud and full of personal, individually recognizable style. Virginia sings upbeat rockin tunes to sensitive ballads written in the 1920's for the likes of Bessie Smith, Memphis Minnie and Lil Green. Virginia serenades listeners with sultry soulful inspiration." The artists she surrounds herself with now are among the best the Northwest has to offer.
