The Vive Quebec Libres

The Vive Quebec Libres are a three-piece Toronto band that formed in 2005 in an attempt to rescue its members from the clutches of winter boredom. Since then, the band has used its music as a vehicle to critique and celebrate aspects of the local scene that they find both amusing and upsetting – namely the changing rotation of hotspot clubs, art-stars in uncomfortable clothes, and local DJ’s who do little more than push buttons on their computers. Their sound can be described as Rock-Punk with loud, screeching guitars and a pummeling rhythm section. Fueled by their passionate sarcasm, they have slowly been making a name for themselves on the local scene, where their perspective is sometimes welcomed.
