(the) Volunteers

We are four musicians from Lawrence, Kansas who formed prior to a battle of the bands in April of 2005. Over the last year we have been perfecting our sounds and finding the right drummer. Through that time our music and our friendships have evolved greatly, and we now feel that we are playing our best music yet. Our style is characterized by many as post-folk rock music. By this we mean that the songs have a folky singer-songwriter vibe, but are fleshed out in rock style that is more modern. Another folky influence can be found in the vocal harmonies that we layer throughout the songs. A current project is a song that we recorded for the child-sponsorship organization Children International. In collaborative efforts with a planned summer promotion for the organization, we wrote and recorded a song called "Sing it to the Mountains." It was proffessionally recorded in Kansas City, Missouri and features a full youth choir. We hope that our efforts with Children International will have a far-reaching positive impact. In the meantime, we are planning to get back into the studio over the summer and record our professional full length debut. We also hope to continue to play shows locally and all across the country.
