Bio
We are not a group of seasoned musicians. We are students and teachers who work hard every day supporting and participating in Torontos education system, trying to represent our citys youth in a positive light. It doesnt get more authentic than this.
With the students singing into the internal microphone on their teachers iMac (her own from home), the recording process of "I am My City" was far from fancy.
Many Torontonians live "far from fancy, so this song is for the people who recognize Toronto as a place that embraces all cultures and supports all socioeconomic classes. Torontonians are people who can come together and make magic happen despite cultural and socioeconomic differences, celebrating diversity in all its forms.
Students from Weston Collegiate, located in the vibrant, complex neighbourhood of Jane and Lawrence, stayed late after school to fuse their own unique voices and melodies into one unified song. The lyrics, melodies and harmonies are beautiful examples of how young people can come together and make magic happen.
I Am My City was recorded in one week in a Toronto high school classroom.
Our resources may be few, but our voices are many!
